To establish and maintain underwriting standards for UK SME Package and Commercial Combined; to support the Profit Centre Manager across all areas of the UK SME Package account; to collaborate with the broader management team on the development and enhancement of multi-line package & combined products and wordings (shops & salons, leisure, manufacturing & wholesale, property owners, offices and surgeries & others arising); to develop appropriate technical training material and underwriting guidelines.
Accountabilities for the role:
Responsible for all underwriting matters within the Profit Centre and to collaborate and influence on pricing
Develop and implement Company underwriting philosophies, guidelines and practices to ensure that the department’s technical underwriting standards evolve
Develop and implement new products and/or product enhancements.
Review and approve authorities for the underwriting team
Provide training and support to all underwriters (including Service Centre team)
Manage and implement peer reviews of the underwriting team
Manage and implement underwriting audits of third party schemes or facilities
Review and approve robust underwriting authority documents for third party delegated authority business
Develop and collaborate on digital platform underwriting rules
Experience & Qualifications Required:
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required
Excellent numerical analytical and digital skills
Strong underwriting background and experience in a commercial insurance environment.
Technical expertise in Property & Casualty lines of business essential with financial lines experience desirable.
Experienced in policy wording development
Experienced in writing training material or underwriting guidelines
